Thank you Jimmy for an interesting presentation. Does the 2nd scenario/option of a much redesigned, larger, all-encompassing livestock program mean a CRP without fish?
Jens Peter, I think you should take your cue from the very end of his clip where he talks about the more comprehensive livestock and fish vision. I would not read too much into his mentioning only livestock at that one point (note that he only had a couple of minutes to prepare after just getting into office from a half-day of travel, so he wasn't given much time to hone the messaging!) -- in all the discussions we have had too date, the focus is on a consolidated 'animal science' agenda, not just a livestock one.
There was also a mention of whether that CRP with the bigger agenda is named livestock & fish or something else. I hope that something else is based on ASF to resolve once and for all the occasional slips concerning fish. Is it by design the fish is slippery?
Thanks Tom (and Acho) - appreciate the time constraints etc. Was getting a bit concerned as fish was omitted a couple of times and same thing then repeated in the opening parts of Michael's presentation with option 2 broadening the scope to include 'the global livestock agenda'. But reassuring to hear that we are still talking about 'Animal source foods by and for the poor' in the wider sense. Maybe we need to start breeding non-slippery fish ... ;-)
